stacey619 San Diego Personal Training

Congrats to Stacey Shaner our Athlete of The Month!!

There is no doubt that the gym is filled with kick-ass women and this months Female Athlete of the Month, Stacey, does not disappoint!

Stacey was a Ragin Cajun at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette… For those scratching their heads as to what a Ragin Cajun is, she was part of the Division 1 Soccer Team! Stacey played center back for two years before getting injured. Growing up, Stacey participated in track, cross-country, dance, tennis, softball and soccer.

Not only is Stacey kick-ass in sports, but she’s also a superhero, in disguise, of course! Stacey is a Trial Attorney who specializes in Dependency Law for a non-profit law firm. Representing children in the Welfare System and making sure they are taken care of.

Stacey’s commitment and strength are among the many qualities that make her an amazing woman and we are very happy that she is part of the CF619 Family.

How did you get involved in 619 San Diego Personal Training?

I got involved with 619 San Diego Personal Training because I saw a Groupon for 619 and I was interested in trying a workout “class” in an effort to loose weight for my wedding. This was back in July 2012.

What was your first WOD/experience?

The first experience I had was pushing those weighted sleds over the concrete about 50 feet in a multiple round race with another two person team. I puked. The first WOD experience that I remember is Whitten. We did this WOD after I had been there a few months, so before that I must have mentally blocked out all of the WODs.

What is your biggest accomplishment?

My biggest accomplishment is becoming active again and being excited about it! For about the 5 years , I probably went for a run once a month (maybe). Also, being able to do a pull-up is really empowering!

What is your favorite/least favorite WOD/movement?

My favorite WOD is probably Grace. I love power cleans and burpees. I really like WODs that involve the olympic lifts. My least favorite WOD is probably anything involving pull-ups!

What do you do for a profession?

I am a trial attorney at a non-profit law firm

What are your hobbies outside of 619 San Diego Personal Training?

I am a total foodie. I love fine (and not so fine) dining. You can regularly find me watching the Food Network or Cooking Channel. I also love to cook and try new recipes when I have the time. Needless to say, Thanksgiving is probably my favorite holiday. I am also a big reader. I hate to admit it, but I usually go straight to the Y.A. Section, and my favorites are the first and second books in the Hunger Games Series. Lastly, I am a huge football fan in general, but I am a die-hard Oklahoma Sooner fan!!

Fitness Goals?

As for my fitness goals, I would love to be able to be able to do 30+ pull-ups in a row. I would also like to be able to do a muscle-up.
