Liz Bhappu

Athlete of the Month

What better way to start off the new year than with celebrating Liz, our Athlete of the Month! Liz has been a positive force in the box for a couple years now. Her attitude, smile and love for Disney are infectious. Her dedication to the sport and commitment to becoming a better athlete is admirable. There is not one instance where Liz does not give each lift or each WOD her all. She constantly pushes herself to become better and cheers on every athlete around her.

Liz grew up figure skating and cheering among other sports. You can always catch Liz preparing for her next half marathon, Disney runs happen to be her favorite. She also completed a Spartan race and Ragnar this past year! She is an extremely competitive individual both inside and outside of the gym.

We are thrilled for Liz and everything she has in store this year. She is entering her final semester of Law School, will be competing in the Open and recently got engaged! Please congratulate her when you see her…check out her gorgeous ring and take a moment to learn more about her.

How did you get involved in 619 San Diego Personal Training?

Another 619 member talked me into trying it. I am naturally super competitive so it was a pretty good fit.

What was your first WOD/experience?

Some WOD that involved box jumps, wall balls and burpees…followed by the Colusa mile.

I had an asthma attack. No joke. Just days before my first class I had run a half marathon, I thought I was in good shape, I guess I wasn’t… I think I cried every day after class my first week and I could barely walk down stairs for a month.

How long have you been 619 San Diego Personal Training for?

I have been 619 San Diego Personal Training since February of 2014- so I guess almost 2 years now! (I could be wrong though, I am not in “math school” as anyone that has seen me try to figure out the weight on my bar can attest to!)

How do you balance 619 San Diego Personal Training with life?

619 San Diego Personal Training is my favorite outlet! As a law student, I am ridiculously busy and always doing things for the extracurricular activities I am a part of. 619 San Diego Personal Training is the one thing I do nearly every day that is just for me. I have found that there is something very therapeutic about throwing around very heavy weight.

What is your biggest accomplishment?

In 619 San Diego Personal Training- My 300 lb deadlift. That was a milestone for me both in weight lifted and the moment in my life when I lifted it. I feel like that day was a turning point for me from a hard time I was having to realizing I was in control of my own life…. See, I told you lifting is therapeutic!

What is your favorite/least favorite WOD/movement?

Favorite- Deadlift, any OLY movement and handstand pushups

Least Favorite- Double Unders and Thrusters

Which is your favorite Nasty Girl? (Fran, Cindy, etc.)

Diane, without question. See previous question.
